Sekitar tahun 1968, David bersama Robb Royer, Jimmy Griffin membentuk grup Bread, dan bergabung dengan perusahaan rekaman Elektra dan merilis album Bread (1969). Salah satu lagu mereka yang populer adalah “If”, yang masih sering diputar di berbagai radio hingga kini.
Lagu “Lady Valentine” diambil dari album Take Me Now (1981). Album ini menghadirkan 10 lagu keren, di antaranya “It’s You”, “Take Me Now”, “Still In Love”, dan “She’s a Heartbreaker”.
